One Free Press (onefreepress.net) should not be confused with “freepress” organization. While we share concerns on some media issues we are not related organizationally or financially.
Their (FREE PRESS) mission statement is as follows per Wikipedia article.
“Free Press is a United States advocacy group that is part of the media reform or media democracy movement. It gives the following mission statement: “We fight to save the free and open Internet, curb runaway media consolidation, protect press freedom, and ensure diverse voices are represented in our media.” The group is a major supporter of net neutrality.”
If you are not sure what Net Neutrality is and it’s potential, we recommend you visit their site for information on Net Neutrality. Remember the 1996 Telecommunications act was advocated as a tool for opening media competition and stop consolidation, whereas it did the opposite as we went from 50 media corporations to 5 corporate Media Oligopolies.
